AAS Groups
Are you part of a student organization that is looking for a service project? Would your group like to participate in an activity that will bring its members closer together? Or perhaps, your floor would like to do something together to allow everyone to get to know each other better. Whatever the case, consider bringing your group to an Adopt-A-School group volunteering program. AAS Groups is a component of our program that focuses on partnering with other Ohio State student organizations and other groups (i.e. dorm floors, teams, etc.) to provide a community service project to these factions within the university at our Hilliard CARES program at Alton Darby Elementary School.
Hilliard CARES Hilliard City Schools has teamed up with Adopt-A-School to provide their elementary school students who want extra help on Saturday mornings with a tutor. Called Hilliard CARES (Community Academic Review and Enrichment Saturdays), the program has been borrowed from a model recognized by civic organizations. The focus of this program is typically on reading or math, and the tutors and students work on an academic subject for one hour and play checkers or chess for the last thirty minutes. Tutors are assigned from one to three students for each 1 1/2 hour period. Groups team up with our regular Hilliard CARES volunteers and perform the same tasks that our regular tutors perform. Also, our experienced tutors and program coordinators are there to assist volunteers from other organizations and ensure that AAS Groups volunteers have a good experience. Hilliard CARES coordinators will work with your group to make volunteering for your group as fun, rewarding, and seamless as possible. When and where While we are certain that some members of your group will become regular volunteers with us, we only require that your group comes once. Groups should arrive by 8:15 am for a brief training session. Tutoring is completed by 10:10 am. Registration information is listed at the bottom of this page. Alton Darby Elementary School is located at 2730 Alton Darby Road, in Hilliard. Sounds great! If your group is interested in the program or has any questions, please contact the Hilliard CARES coordinator listed below. The coordinator will help prepare your organization and brief everyone on what to expect at the function. We recommend that groups make arrangements at least two weeks prior to the tutoring session to enhance turnout. Groups should sign-up through the coordinator . They should not sign-up through the online scheduling system. Contact information Stephanie Meehl Learn more about Hilliard CARES. |
