Indianola Middle School
For some information on the state of Indianola Middle School look at their report card from the Ohio Department of Education. IMS is currently designated as an academic emergency. At Indianola Middle School, our flagship school, tutors' main focus is to work in the classroom on all academic subjects. By working in the same classroom for the entire quarter, tutors build relationships with the students and build a system with the teacher. Indianola volunteers give at least one hour per week during the second through tenth weeks of the quarter to assist the middle school students. For flexibility, tutors select the day of the week and time on that day that they tutor from a wide range of available times. At the beginning of each quarter, Adopt-A-School holds mandatory information/training sessions to introduce prospective tutors to our program. Also at these sessions, prospective tutors will be given a Personal Access Code (PAC) with which they use to schedule a specific day, time, teacher, and subject they wish to tutor. Each week throughout the quarter, tutors will go to Indianola Middle School at that day and time. Weekly attendence is required since teachers' schedules often depends on their tutor's presence. Indianola Middle School is located at the corner of 4th Street and 19th Avenue (420 E 19th Ave). It is about a 20 minute walk from campus or short ride on the CABS East Residential Route.
